“Killing time” is my second solo album, recorded mainly in my living room in Cologne, Germany. For five years I have been intensely touring with Indie band “Fortuna Ehrenfeld” as a keyboard player and singer and these songs were the ones I played to myself when I came home late at night from a gig or a tour. Songs to help me process what I had seen on tour, to relax and come back to myself.

It’s a musical look inside and the decision to go for the reduced, honest versions of my songs. It took me courage to throw away most of the tracks that I recorded with some great musicians in the studio and go back to the “demo” versions I had recorded in my living room. When you listen carefully you can hear the noise of the overhead catenary in my guitar, the trains passing by my window and my neighbours yelling. It’s rough, sensitive and it’s honest, I love it!

René Tinner was just the right person to mix and produce the songs, reducing them even more to their essence. He is a luminary in production who worked with CAN in the 70s and 80s in Cologne and I am happy to have worked with him.
